Bhutan VISA

HOW TO APPLY BHUTAN VISA?

All tourists visiting Bhutan must have a valid Bhutan visa to visit Bhutan except for India, Bangladesh and Maldives. Therefore, visa are only issued to tourists who have booked their holidays with a licensed local tour company. For that reason, full payment of the holiday needs to be made to process your Bhutan tourist visa by your local agent.

After that, the important visa processing requirement is a scanned copy of a photo page of your passport. However, your passport should be with at least 6 months of validity from your travel date. Then, the Tourism Council of Bhutan will issue the visas to you within 72 working hours after the full payment is made, and received by the TCB.

After that, submission of visa application will be done by us after booking your holiday with us.


BHUTAN VISA REQUIREMENTS

  • Every visitors to Bhutan requires a tourist visa. Exception are India and Bangladesh passports holders.
  • Visas are only issued to tourists whom booked tour packages with local tour operators, directly or through a foreign travel agent.
  • Visa application is submitted by tour operator on behalf of visitors.
  • Visa is issued by Tourism Council of Bhutan in Thimphu, Bhutan.
  • The Royal Government of Bhutan sets minimum selling prices for packages to Bhutan and this must be paid in US dollars prior to arrival in Bhutan.

DAILY TARIFF

The minimum tariff for tourist visiting in a group of 3 persons or more are as follows:

  • High Season Tariff: USD 250 per person per night halt (March, April, May, September, October & November)
  • Low Season Tariff: USD 200 per person per night halt (January, February, June, July, August & December)

 

The minimum price includes:

  • All internal Taxes and charges (including the royalty)
  • Accommodation
  • All Meals
  • All travel with a licensed Bhutanese Tour Guide
  • All internal Transport
  • Camping Equipment and Haulage for Trekking

TARIFF EXCEPTION

With effect from 01/07/2009, the 25% discount on Diplomatic visas has been revoked.

 

There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However,those between the ages of 6 – 12 years accompanied by eldes/ guardians shall be given 50% discount on daily rates.

 

Full time STUDENTS below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions shall also be given a 25% discount on daily rates

 

A discount of 50% on daily rates shall be given to on person is a group of 11 to 15 people. 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons.

SURCHARGES

Individual tourist and smaller groups of less than three persons shall be subject to surcharge, over and above the minimum daily rates applicable, as follows:

  • Single Individual: USD 40 per night
  • Group of 2 persons: USD 30 per person per night

Your Visa to Bhutan can only be applied and processed by an authorized and registered travel agent such as us. The Visa will come together with your travel package to Bhutan. You can’t apply Visa yourself and Bhutan embassy does not have travel visa services.

Visa is usually released about 1 – 2 weeks before your arrival in Bhutan. This is to accommodate travelers who have to make last minute change of plan. We can arrange for your Visa within a one week period. So it is possible to book your trip this week and be in Bhutan in 7 day.

We don’t need your physical passport to apply for tourist Visa. We simply need a color scanned copy of your passport to make the Visa application

You can travel to Bhutan all year round, but the best months are March to May and September to November. For more information please visit When to go Bhutan.

Your Visa will be applied by your tour operator. You would not need to make an appointment with Bhutan embassy. Embassy of Bhutan does not provide tourist Visa services.

It is not possible to separate Visa application from tour package. Having said so you can still travel alone and free-and-easy. A guide and driver will be accompanying you and the activities within the day is really up to you. You don’t have to complete the tourism circuit.
